The Longest Post for the Eldest Person

Auntie Marian turned 100 years old this past weekend.

There was a party in her honor, and what a celebration it was indeed.

July 190

What do you get for someone who is turning 100?

I don’t know.

The boys and I thought, and thought, and thought, finally we came up with the idea to create a candy poster for her. Auntie Marian is as sharp as a tack, she understood the little puns and word phrases the very first time she read it.

One of the secrets of living until your 100… laughing and smiling with all you’ve got. July 153

It’s contagious. July 154 July 159 July 161 July 163 July 170

One of the great things about Mr. Dunbar’s family; they always include mine. My mom brought Auntie Marian an Edible Arrangement. It said “100” on top. July 171 July 177

Monkey ate the 100. He was very proud of himself. July 178 As the adults chatted away and had a gay ol’ time… July 246

(hi pagan!)

Then Liam brought out bubbles. Genius idea. Thanks, Megan.July 200July 221 July 222July 239July 242July 229

Then more cousins showed up.

Hmmm, notice that big empty spot on the platter below?July 267

Yeah, well, that’s because Bogie got to it. He thought it was a Wine and Cheese Party.July 264 July 265

But the party just kept right on rolling…

There was a toast, Cousin Jenny gave it and she cried and laughed and cried again. July 272July 283July 278 July 277 July 286July 270

SALUD! To a life well lived! A saint that has impressed love among generations.   July 289 July 291 July 293

Here are some photos of the ladies who put on this here shin-dig.

Okay, Cousin Jared up above isn’t a lady. I was just checking to see if you were still reading.

And some random photos from the night.

No birthday party is complete without cake. Look at those boys’ faces. July 318July 319July 320July 322

And some family photos.

Auntie with her daughter and grandkids.

July 337

And then the crazy gang wanted a picture with the Lady of Honor. The funniest part about these pictures, to me, is Megan’s Prom pose in every single shot.  All the hooligans are going bonkers on the guys shoulders and she’s just smiling away. And lastly the Dunbar’s got a few shots at the very end of the night. July 366July 365

One hundred year age difference. Amazing. July 361

There is no person I have ever met that is more interesting as well as interested. She makes you feel like a million bucks every time you talk with her. She’s got stories of eras we only read about in history books. She’s held every single baby in this family.

We love you Auntie. We are so grateful you are a part of our lives. Mwah.

Flexibility, Seating Arrangements, and Yummy Yummy Food

A few posts ago, I mentioned that my Sailor has discovered his toes.

But did you know that he can stick them in his mouth?  July 018 July 019

Notice the wrinkled brow. I make the same face when I’m frustrated. Mr. Dunbar always tells me to stop making that face because I’m giving myself wrinkles—its an instant face changer.July 017

I tried telling that to Sailor and it worked.July 020

On a different note-

Bogie is connected to Mr. Dunbar when he’s home. I came into the living room and here they were. Bogie just planted himself on Mr. Dunbar’s shoulders, not to be pried off. Bogie is a lot like me in temperament, so its no wonder he likes to be with his dad, calm and mellow is good for us.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My MIL was making homemade icecream this weekend in her icecream maker. Then I logged onto Kevin and Amanda and lo and behold she had an amazingly easy icecream recipe without and icecream maker! I just made a simple chocolate flavor.  This is the before picture. I didn’t get an after… it was devoured. But believe me when I tell you it was rich and creamy and all around yummy.July 049

My kids love this cereal they ate the whole box in 2 days. What’s your kids favorite cereal?

 July 051

And one more shot of Mr. Flexible.July 021

I just love it that babies can do this. Look at those fingers.

He’s a chunk!  I mean hunk. Or maybe just a chunk of hunk.

Almost too pretty too use

In a house with three boys and two dogs you need a heavy duty vacuum to handle all of the dirt, and hair, and crumbs that make their way around the house. For over a year now my vacuum had been acting up. It wasn’t really getting everything up that it used to and then a few months ago it started spitting some of the dirt back out. Yes, it  did in fact shoot some of the dirt and crud back out onto the floor! When we bought it, it was the top of the line. Dyson 7 Animal.  That was 8 years ago. I don’t really know how long vacuums are supposed to last but we used the heck out of ours and well it was just time to retire the poor thing.

This past weekend this beauty made its way into our home. July 024

Look at this perfectly clean tank. No hair. No dust bunnies. No dirt. Ah, well. We got picture for memories sake.July 031July 026

This “ball” thing is really interesting, it makes the vacuum much lighter and easier to turn. But it takes some getting used to. Don’t worry, I got used to it real quick. July 023July 028July 029

Watch out dirt, this thing is coming to get you. July 035          She was almost too pretty too use. Almost.

ADDED: My dad texted me saying his house needs to be vacuumed. {Silly guy.}

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How was your 4th?

Ours was low key.

July 043

July 040

Don’t let this smile fool you, he hadn’t slept in 2 nights and a few hours after this picture was taken we were sitting in Urgent Care. I thought perhaps he had some sort of virus in his throat or an ear infection because he refused to latch on to eat and he was screaming wildly. Of course when we saw the doctor he was all smiles again, lil buster.

But nope no virus or infection just a bad cold. In July.

We watched fireworks from our driveway.

Happy July.
