Update

1. The egg thingy-ma-bobs I made last week don’t seem to be Mr. Dunbar’s favorite. Hallelujah!! I was secretly praying for this.

2. The stomach flu hit our house. BAD. This past weekend. Guess who got vomited on just about 20 times in 36 hours?  Yours truly. Who knew making it to the toilet to puke was a skill? This is a life skill people! Dunbar Men: learn this now. (And no, Mr. Dunbar did not puke on me, only all of his spawn.)

3. I did have a friend once, whose husband was puking (due to a night out) and she had to clean him up, and as she was doing this,  he was telling her, “I love you. I love you more than the piano man at Nordstrom.” One of the funniest things I ever heard.                        (Yo, V. You still read this blog?)

3. I was ironing and smiling to myself the other day. I am so not the same person I was 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago. Just ask my husband.

4. Due to the stomach flu that infiltrated our house this past weekend. I still haven’t got to meet the newest member of our family. Boo!  Dear Brother, send more pictures. Quick!

5. My boys are taking store bought non-candy Valentines to school. Star Wars Legos and Captain America themed valentines were chosen, along with a sticker and a bookmark. I am not contributing to the childhood obesity epidemic.

6. Chunk, aka Chewy looks like his dad in this picture. Did you know in less than 2 weeks he’s going to be one? What the what?

7. Peek a Boo.

8. Mr. Dunbar calls this the Fidel Castro hat.

10. I’ve started drinking tea again. It’s been a while. Hot tea. Mmmmm. Soothes the soul.

Two Breakfast Surprises and 100 Days

Yesterday while putting laundry away, this is how I found Chunk sleeping.

IMG_8238IMG_8239

All curled up, no pants on, one sock missing and arm hanging out of the crib.

IMG_8243IMG_8244

While he was sleeping I was putting together these breakfast muffin thingy-ma-bobs. Yes, it was a labor of love for my husband because I do not cook eggs. First time in over 8 years of being married that I actually made an “egg dish.”

IMG_8265

I used homemade bread for a base, 10 eggs with shredded zucchini and chopped spinach,  sausage, Tapatio, and some shredded Monterey Jack cheese. Genn also made these today. Great minds think alike. Oh and I got my haircut the night before.

IMG_8266

Oh my word. I want to gag just looking at the picture.

IMG_8269

Okay and since I do not cook eggs I forgot how much they puff up when they are cooked. IMG_8278

Mr. Dunbar had to fish them out of the muffin pan. I could not. The smell of cooked egg was pushing me over the edge, so I decided bake bread. That smell is divine.

IMG_8281

Just a side note, he told me that scrubbing off dried egg is harder than scrubbing off egg just after its been cooked. Didn’t know that.

A little while later Mr. Mister over here decided that he wanted to get out of his crib while I was in the middle of making bread dough. He thought I was going to bake cookies so he took the oatmeal out. I of course was too busy too put his pants back on him, but not too busy to pull the camera out.

This my friends is what it looks like to sit in 42 ounces of oatmeal.

I am creating a kinesthetic/tactile learning environment for my children. How about you?

IMG_8302

I texted some friends and family. “Who wants to come clean this mess up?” I got no takers. So much for loving your brother! Or in this case your sister.

IMG_8318

And SOOC, since I’m running out of time.

IMG_8332IMG_8333T

This is what you get when you ask a 6 year old to smile.

And the result of telling him, “Just pose for the picture!”

100 days of Kindergarten! We’re more than half way through it. I can not believe it.

Because he’s happiest when…

IMG_8044IMG_8046IMG_8047

Absolutely positvely the most very favorite toy in the Dunbar house is the iPhone or the iPod. Even this one, who is not quite one, yet will drop everything else to play with it.

Don’t you just love those elbow patches?IMG_8050IMG_8055IMG_8052IMG_8053

Latest Dunbar happenings:

1. One sick child… again. Goodness gracious people.

2. I am in the middle of a ‘labor of love’ for my husband, as I type this. It’s happening in the kitchen.  Any guesses? Details tomorrow.

3. I have another project brewing for Monday, and I feel like an Amish woman. Can’t wait to share that.

4. Who knew that it would take over a week to catch up from a 4 day trip?  Seriously, everything is just barely back to order since our ski trip.

5. In passing I heard a kid say today, “I don’t like any of the things my parents buy with their money for me.” I wanted to cry. I know what he meant; he’s bored with his toys, but I took it to heart. They want our time, our attention, our praise. Pretty soon, all of those toys will be the only thing he knows of love and that’s when entitlement sets in. (Ha. Says the girl, who’s infant is playing with an iPhone.)

6. Trying to take pictures of boys is like trying to tell an elephant to sit while a mouse crawls up his back. Why don’t they just listen? Why?

It was a boy’s weekend

This past weekend was an all boy’s weekend. On Saturday I helped out with a shower for my dear friend Ali,  who will be welcoming twin boys this spring. Twin boys. They will be numbers 2 and 3 for her. The shower was hosted at my friend Kim’s house and it was so nice.

Each of the place settings had a cupcake with the boy’s names; Corbin and Cooper.

The center pieces.

I was in charge of the raffle and games. We had to do a diaps and wipes raffle for her, of course. Can you imagine how many she’s going to go through?

IMG_8135IMG_8137IMG_8141

Kim and I being silly. We needed a little silliness at this point.

IMG_8142

This is what a pregnant lady of twins really looks like.

This is what she looks like when she knows you’re taking pictures of her.

IMG_8144

Some people are so creative. This was a diaper wreath with all sorts of baby essentials; pacifiers, spoons, socks, rattles, onesies, teethers and other little baby things.

IMG_8145

And this was my most favorite gift that she got. It was in a beautiful basket that said baby things and as she pulled it out the baby clothes were all pinned to the clothes line. Two sets of each. It was such a neat way to open a gift. So fun and adorable.

 IMG_8147IMG_8148IMG_8149IMG_8151IMG_8152IMG_8155

Here we are at the end of the shower.

IMG_8158

Ali got lots of nice things, tons of diapers and wipes, and a nice afternoon honoring the arrival of Baby Boys Corbin and Cooper.

On Sunday, we had church and then some errands, and then naps (which meant more time for me to get things done), and by the time the Super Bowl was about to start I was just wiped out. So we just decided to stay home and have our own little Super Bowl party.

IMG_8161IMG_8165IMG_8169

I didn’t even take the Valentine’s décor off the table, I simply put the football stuff over it.

IMG_8160IMG_8170IMG_8167IMG_8172

It was quick, it was easy, and it was fun. Boys just like food, especially a whole table full of food.

I watched the first half and then started reading my book. Towards the end of the game Mr. Dunbar asked me if I wanted to watch the last few minutes of it and man am I glad I did. I always love a good game that comes down to the very last play.

And that my friends is a wrap.
