Pumpkin Patch Excursion

Well we finally made it to the large pumpkin patch tonight. This seems to be an annual trip with some good friends. The boys had a blast! Too bad posing for pictures wasn't a priority for them...

There was an entire play area in this bounce house and Bogie kept reaming this fish-head thing.

The boys did the tractor drive, who looks like they are having a good time?

They made this poor kid work for his $8 an hour.
"Back up off our ride..."

I love this picture, go faster, go faster.

High climbs and slippery slopes...
Means you get static cling.

And by the end of the night they were all worn out.
Until we got to Chick-Fil-A... but that's a whole other post.
Check out last year's trip to the Pumpkin Patch, they were so cute and still babyish. After this year, there will be none of that left for our older two. Sigh... (in a good way.)
{PS} I know everyone knows of MckMama, but Stellan is back in the hospital. If you get a second please pray for him and their families. And another local baby Kendall who is also in the hospital.

Ramblings of an almost 4-year-old

Monkey has been spoutin' some interesting ideas recently, so I thought I'd share a few comments I remember from the last week or so.

While doing some flashcards of U.S. Presidents, George Washington was on the top of the stack. Monkey tells Bogie, "That's George Washington, he lives on the quarter."

Monkey is really into dates right now, especially since he knows his birthday is just around the corner. So Mr. Dunbar asked him if he knew when Christmas is and Monkey responded "1937." (There is a Christmas song played on the Christian radio station that has a line that goes, "It was Christmas time in 1937.") I guess it stuck as a date in Monkey's mind.

While riding the crimson wave, I can get pretty fiesty. All of us Dunbar's were in car the other day and Mr. Dunbar told me that I am 'mean to everyone...' from the backseat we hear "yeah, like ALL of America!" Gee, thanks Monkey.

Monkey's bible verse for the week is "My people know me and follow me. John 10:27'
When asked, "Who said this?" Monkey answered, "My teacher."
Great, did you get that God?

And this morning, again in the car, Monkey was telling me what to play on the radio. Telling me, the mom, so I told him he'd just have to wait. He pauses, sighs, lowers his voice and says, "Stop arguing with me. This is what's going to happen..."
Ummm, Hello!! I am the Mom.
Funny guy.

UPDATED: And I just thought of another instance:
Right before bed two nights ago, Monkey tells Mr. Dunbar that he is thirsty.
Mr. Dunbar tells him he "may only have a few sips of water."
Monkey says, "How about juice?"
Mr. Dunbar tells him, "Water."
Monkey says, "How about wine?"
Mr. Dunbar says, "What?!?"
Monkey says, "I said wine, how about wine?"
Mr. Dunbar says, "You are so your like mother."
Well, maybe Mr. Dunbar didn't say that last line but he was so thinking it.

Sassy Kitchen

I was perusing the Target aisles this morning while Bogie was happily chomping on whole grain Goldfish, and I found this adorable apron for $12.99. The ones they had last season were way too long for me and I think they were $14.99. Anyhow, this one spoke to me, so of course I brought it home.

Bare with me with these photos, my arms just are not long enough.

Two sassy pockets.

And then on the next rack over, color coordinating towels. Awwww... these were not as much of a steal at $9.99 (for towels that will most likely be rags by the end of the season), but I talked myself into them. There were 5 towels in the packet and I had "hand towels" on my list.

This is the first rooster item I have purchased in in my whole adulthoold.

So I am enjoying cleaning and cooking today. And my kitchen is feeling pretty sassy herself.

Did your weekend look like ours?

Saturday:
95 degrees outside
Who would have thought the boys would be playing in the water in their boardshorts?

Sunday:
We made a trek over to the local pumpkin patch.
It was the old school one with bean and hula hoop tosses, 50cent candies, and homemade crafts. Not too much more.
Mr. Dunbar said that it was the type of pumpkin patch he went to as a kid, unlike the BIG one we'll visit next week. I said I don't remember going to the pumpkin patch.

Is this just the funniest picture or what?

"Don't you take another picture of me!! I'm warning you..."

Individuals:

And together:

(Can someone please tell me how I get pictures side-by-side in Blogger???)

A few things to enjoy this autumn

Mini-pumpkins on the kitchen table. "One of them is the mommy, one is the daddy, one is the Monkey and the lil one is Bogie," according to my Monkey of course.

I am in love with this deep red scarf from Anthropologie. All things scarf and all things red are so posh. Did you see Nie in her red hat?

I love to wake up and light one of these candles, it automatically makes the house feel
warmer and cozier.
Bath and Body seriously came out with a great line this season, you can't go wrong with any of these scents.

And of course my men watching football on Sundays.
Don't they look so enthused?
Maybe their team was losing... who knows, maybe it was nap time.

And I won this awesome Lisa Leonard Designs necklace. So I will really be enjoying that this season. (Pictures to come soon.) I Love Lisa and Edie, go check them out. Thanks so much ladies.

The Lovey, well sort of, in some wierd way

This is a G-Rated blog. Let me just preface that now.
A while back Bogie decided that he liked bra straps. I'm not sure if the straps comfort him, like a reminder of the days when he was nursed or what.
All I know is that this boy has a got a thing for the over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder.

He's tall enough now to walk into my room, pull open the top drawer of my dresser and grab one out. This is what I saw this morning.

Any thoughts on how I could swap this "lovey" out for another?
You know, something he could carry at Disneyland or Target.

Quick and easy dinner- Erin Style

We have some friends who are very dear to us. Friends so dear, that when we have dinner with them, 9 times out of 10 Ms. Erin will make beer bread just because she knows
Mr. Dunbar loves it.
Adores it.
Devours it.
Beer bread is good stuff.
And Ms. Erin will spend hours making it from scratch for the Dunbar's.

The other day while in Trader Joe's I saw the box for Beer Bread. Huh? And the box said all I would have to do was add beer. Now a quick and easy bread mix like this, I can handle. So I bought it along with another good thing Simple Times Lager. At $2.99 a six pack, it's a steal.)

Another part of dinner I picked up over the years from Ms. Erin is Bear Creek Cheddar Broccoli soup mix. (Not from TJ's.) I threw in some broccoli florets and frozen shredded chicken (that I had from a rotisserie Costco chicken two weeks ago.)

Twenty minutes later I had a hearty warm dinner on the table. I had to make Beer Bread biscuits because the loaf was going to take about an hour. Biscuits only took 18- 22 minutes.

Yummy!

And we'll be having beer bread biscuits with butter and jam in the morning.
