This year

As I prepared myself for this year, lots of words came to mind.
Grace, kindness, patience, effort, exert, hope.

But none of them seemed to speak to my heart and mind together. The word "efficient" kept coming up and I kept pushing it back. It seemed so structured, so regimented. But as I was making my bed this morning I thought, no, that is my word. It's not glamorous. It's not whimsical. But it's me and it will ebb into all areas of my life.

This year I choose to be...
Efficient in preparing myself for the day(dressed and ready for whatever is planned or not.)
Efficient in planning adventures and small life lessons for my boys. (making beds and forts on the agenda this year.)
Efficient in opening my heart for all that God has for me this year (and loving those He has put on my heart.)
Efficient in keeping the home that He has supplied me with and any changes that come about for the Dunbar's this year.
Efficient in being the wife, friend, and daughter that I am supposed to be.
Efficient in spending my time wisely and speaking less and listening more. (YIKES communicating efficiently is going to be hard.)
I already feel challenged and at the same time refreshed.
Twenty ten is going to be a different year than 2009.
I can already tell.

More life words of the year can be found here, and here, and here, and here.

What a wonderful and helpful word! It inspires me this morning as everything you wrote is my heart, too. May we both be efficient as we live out great stories this year. (thanks for the link :)

I think that is a GREAT word!!! I really enjoyed your post and blog...and don't worry if you feel like you had to have a glamorous word...because you are glamorous yourself it seems:) Happy New Year and here's to efficiency!

What I love about your word, and just may adopt, is that it is not perfection. Being efficient at times, will be the bare minimum of what can happen when you need it to happen, and not all that glorious or glamorous. Efficient, is getting the job done, in a manner that is proficient. Good word friend, good word.

That IS a good word! It is so interesting to me all the different words that came to mind before I chose mine (I played too!). I had the same feeling though, my word just kept coming back to me until I opened my eyes and said, "that is the one". I am excited and really want to make an effort to use and think of mine all year, not just January! Maybe we can all help each other!
Side note, did you get my text about Joe's bday tonight?!

I like it your word, efficient. So, while you and all my bloggy friends are chosing words, I'm preparing my next post which is New Years Eve. I'm a little behind.

Reading your post has brought the thought of a word for 2010 back to the forefront of my brain. I will chose a word and hope that it brings some value to my life.

Thanks for your post. I always enjoying reading them....and love that you plan on building forts with your boys. That's right....keep it simple and fun for 2010!
