To combat the need for more cabinet space, Mr. Dunbar made these shelves for me.
The inspiration being the cafe shelves from Ballard's. (Which are $99 each plus tax and shipping at $20.95. They would have cost almost $250.)
But a little of Mr. Dunbar's time, okay an entire Sunday afternoon, and this is what I got for around $45. (Directions are from Beneath My Heart.)
I think he did a pretty darn good job.
And to end this post on a cute note with bed head.

Love it. Love it. Love it. The red birdcage is fabulous too. The baby definitely adds to the ambiance as well! :)
Great job Mr. D.!!!!
The shelfs look beautiful, but the most important thing is that your wife is so happy!!!
what I love more is the;
"Honey, PLEASE DO List"
wifes GIVE their HUSBANDS to so many opportunties to complete projects which make HER HAPPY but the BEST part is that she gets to brag about how GREAT HER HUSBAND is. . .
And you my son in-law, in 6 short years, have become a Great husband!
By the way, the shelfs look beautiful! I can hardly wait to see the next project you complete! ha, ha, ha,
Love ya, Mrs.V

I have seen those Ballard shelves and I LOVE them! My Mom made some and painted them black in her kitchen. They are beautiful! Yours look great. And what pretty dishware you have sitting out on them. I wish I had a free wall in my kitchen to do the same.
Mr. Dunbar should receive the HUSBAND of the Month award!!! Well done! Good imagination and creativity friend.
I love open shelving in the kitchen. sometimes I wish I had done that instead! Your last picture is too cute! real cutie!

Hi! I found your blog through my good friend Nancy (Goat & Kid Nancy). Love your shelves! Thanks for posting the how-to. Living in California for me means beauty all around, but limited square footage! Shelving makes my life easier and my house more organized.
