Holy Smokes

Can you believe that it is November?

Seriously.

Hullo!

Where has this year gone?

I went to Target yesterday and they have all sorts of Christmas goodies out already, and the Disney Store was playing Christmas Carols the day before Halloween- which I thought was a bit uncalled for. I am really into giving each holiday its fair share of time. Most years I am in the full swing of Christmas shopping this week and next, I try to have as much of it done before Monkey’s Birthday and Thanksgiving as possible. This year, I think I just may wait until Black Friday to start shopping. Casey and I have already decided we are going to do the mad dash on Black Friday Sales. Well, actually I decided this for her, because she’s got a big new car that I haven’t even gotten a ride in and I figure we can christen it with a whole bunch of Christmas gifts together.

This will be the 10th Christmas Mr. Dunbar and I spend together. The first year, when we were dating, we tried to do all of the things that we’d normally done up until that point in our lives. We drove from my grandma’s to his aunt’s to my mom’s to his mom’s to my aunt’s to his cousin’s… it was insane! We vowed to never let that happen again. We spent so much time on the freeway that we were late to every house except the first. Pure madness. Luckily we’ve come up with a system that works for us for now, especially since my mom lives 15 minutes one way and his mom lives 10 minutes in another. And one of my most favorite parts of the holiday is spending time at his Aunt’s. She’s amazing and we would never miss an event like Christmas with her.

Do you have a system of working the holidays? Are you making a Christmas list? Been naughty or nice? (Who else’s kids got the ToysRUs wish book this week? My kids have been drooling over it for three days now.)

I have no idea where this Christmas post came from, as again, I was going to tell you all how amazing my husband is. Complementing each other was my original topic of thought. Which we do a great deal of. But perhaps I’ll save that for another day. I’m going to sit down and start writing out my Christmas Wish list for this year, as I am after-all  a major “gifts” person.IMG_6276

I am looking forward to your post on your original topic of thought about your amazing husband. :)

I agree with you ...why can't every holiday get it's time! Poor Thanksgiving really gets squeezed out of the show doesn't it???:)

I have a few gift ideas jotted down for several people on my list. I have a "Gift Ideas" document on the computer and every time I think of something I just type it on there. I have teacher gift figured out so that is a plus. I really do not like the hustle and bustle of last minute shopping so I like to have it all done way ahead of time too.
Enjoy the day

How awesome to have both sets of grandparents so close! That must really make things easier for the holidays. My folks and my in-laws are an hour or so apart, but when you add gobs of snow to the equation it gets a bit messy. :) I am planning on making a gift list and being more prepared for Christmas this year - there's just that little execution thing I have a problem with. ;) Happy planning!

we alternate going to my husband's parent and staying home for Christmas and Thanksgiving. We do Christmas with my family before Christmas so that everyone can be together. I have most of my list and the boys lists done. I've done some shopping for the boys and my nephews but that's about it

Celebrate your guy! I need to get through Thanksgiving first before I can even think of Christmas. Oy!

Ahem.....I will stand with the Nordstrom Family until I die.....I believe that every holiday deserves its due time, so I will be celebrating Thanksgiving and Fall, in 90 degree weather. It's bad enough we have to listen to Christmas music for the practice of Missy's big performance. I am thankful, for Fall, Thanksgiving, and pumpkin spice lattes!
