Our Very Hungry Caterpillar

Our last 1st Birthday Party happened this past weekend.

It was a Very Hungry Caterpillar Party.

Complete with a very large and hungry caterpillar.IMG_8832IMG_8841

Do you remember all of the foods that the caterpillar eats through? Let me remind you:

  • the caterpillar eats through a single red apple, two (green) pears, three (purple) plums, four strawberries, and five oranges, which takes us from Monday to Friday.
  • Saturday: the caterpillar eats its way through many different foods: chocolate cake, ice-cream, a pickle, Swiss cheese, salami, a lollipop, cherry pie, a sausage, a cupcake, and a slice of watermelon. (via Wikipedia)

We had a short story time reading the book and reminding everyone of all of the foods the caterpillar ate through.

This is a  picture of a grown-up sausage that the caterpillar ate through. The kids had hotdogs.IMG_8867

And there was play time.

Play time with Uncle J, the game organizer. Uncle A was also up in all of the fun. My brothers are 10 year old boys in men’s bodies. IMG_8906IMG_8907IMG_8909

And then we rallied in the troops to sing, “Happy Birthday.”IMG_8919IMG_8921IMG_8922

The Grandmas just passed the Birthday Boy around. IMG_8881IMG_8887

We had a caterpillar hunt for the littles.IMG_8891IMG_8892IMG_8895IMG_8893IMG_8974IMG_8975IMG_8894

And the kids got to take home some Caterpillar Food, a lollipop, and a glow stick. IMG_8942

PS-  Special Thanks to Mr. Dunbar who put up with my craziness for a week and then just went along as I tried to not bark orders.

My dad who picked up tables and chairs.

My mom who helped set everything up and put up with 25 phone calls for napkins, plates, ribbon and whatever else was on my brain that minutes.

My MIL who let us use her house.

Isn’t my MIL’s backyard amazing? When I called to thank her for letting us use her space she said, “That’s what a home is for. For the kids to run and play and use all of the space with lots of noise and laughs.” I love that.
