For a Monday Morning

Are you feeling like this on a Monday morning? Sometimes I do. But not this week, this week I’ve got too much to get done to feel any grumpies.

Painting to do.

VBS for boys to attend.

Boxes to d pack.

Yard sale stuff to unload.

Plus the usual things like feed the children.

You’ll probably catch me like this all week. I’ll be running in and out of the Home Depot. IMG_1499

Here’s to hoping we get to lay out by the pool sometime soon. IMG_1516

Enjoying your summer?

Pre-School Conclusion and Summer Food

I never did show the end of the school year pics of Bogie. He was up bright eyed and ready to hula for his end-of-the-year luau. The other 2 were practically still asleep, but he was so excited.

 IMG_1407

Bogie had a great year and really and truly fell in love with school. So many times he told me that he “wanted to go to school 6 days a week!” I kept telling him ask your teachers if that’s okay with them. IMG_1412

And his teachers, oh his teachers, women after my own heart. They loved my boy and took such great care of him. They taught him so much and he just thrived in so many ways, academically, socially, physically, and most important spiritually. Their love for Jesus just emanated and it was contagious in their classroom.IMG_1414

Mrs. Arroyo especially loved my Bogie. She would tell him on Fridays that she loved him and it just melted my heart because I knew she really did. She’s got 5 kids of her own and she always told him she would take him home in a heart beat because he made her laugh. I loved everything about her. IMG_1432IMG_1415IMG_1434

I am so grateful that his first experience with school was such a positive one. Bogie is my all or nothing kid and WOW was school ever just his favorite thing this past year.

=============================================================

I don’t know about you but it is starting to heat up over here and I really don’t feel like cooking, like at all. So here’s a snippet of what we’ve been eating.

Greek Salad, my absolute fave. IMG_1472

Strawberries, I opened up the most perfect basket of them this week. Picture perfect and super sweet. IMG_1458

And a nice green salad with a slice of flax ciabatta and ice water.

IMG_1409

Of course I didn’t take a picture of the ice-cream I’ve been devouring every single night or the package of Lacey’s I single handedly ate myself. Ahh well.

We all have to indulge a little right?

For Father’s Day

For my own Dad: IMG_1120Thank you for coming when I call. Always. Even on Monday mornings when I know you have to be at work and I call because of something stupid I did. (Like hit the garage door.) Thank you for riding Chunk along in his very favorite seat, up and down the street, when I know you have to be at work. Thank you for being a good Papa and for always forking over dollar bills.

IMG_1114

And to the Father of my three sons: IMG_1352

I hit the jack pot when I got you. You are more compassionate, hard-working, and unselfish than anyone I have ever known. You never miss a beat when the boys are tugging at you as you walk through the door trying to get your tie off. I am continually amazed at your patience and your integrity. Each and every day I am glad that we are in this parenting gig together!

Happy Father’s Day guys!

The End is Near

(This post was started over a week ago…)

So much going on right now.

1. Tomorrow is Monkey’s last day of Kindergarten. He had is promotion this morning. I now officially have a first grader. Full blown full-time school is in our future. The end of half days is tomorrow.

 IMG_1154IMG_1157IMG_1173

2.We sold our house. Yup. It sold and is in escrow. I never thought it would happen. We are moving in a month. YIKES. Life as we know it is coming to a close.

3. We are moving in with my MIL. And she’s fantastic, she’s giving up half her house. And we get to save a mortgage payment for a while, so that when I get to go house shopping again it will be for a BIG house.

4. I got my old part-time (kind of make-your-own-schedule) job back. Had to take a TB test and everything. Keeping my fingers crossed that I love the classroom as much as I used to. I’m sure I will, but it’s been forever. I still have all summer to psych myself up for it. It’s just subbing, nothing too permanent.

5. We signed Chunk up for music. His first activity. He’s so not an itty bitty any more. The baby days are drawing to a close. Why do I feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest when I think of this? Any ideas?

6. I got two bathing suits from Victoria Secret. And I am thrilled with them. A few months ago I bought a one piece suit, a mom suit. Mr. Dunbar was not thrilled at all.  So he let me get two more, well strongly encouraged me. Ha. Good thing. We will have a pool.  And days of watching my boys splash in the jacuzzi are over. They are crazy hooligans in the water.

AND NOW because this has been in my drafts for over a week…

7. You already saw one of my new suits… from the Vegas shots.

8. I’ve been cleaning for two days, my MIL’s pantry. If you’re throwing a party and need a platter or a serving bowl or china, or stemware, or anything… she’s got it. I’ll hook you up.

9. We are in swim lessons now. The pool is solar heated. AKA: If its not sunny its not warm. Yesterday we started to play “Humpty Dumpty” in the Mom-n-Me class. My little Humpty did not fall, Humpty upped and ran away. No joke. Chunk booked it away from the pool as soon as his little hiney hit the concrete. We called it quits after that. IMG_1107

10. Did I tell you we are moving? Time to get packing.

11. Bogie just walked up and said, “Type in ‘Obama’!” HUH?

12. Now I’m seriously going to get started packing, right after dinner.

Longest Post for the Mini Vacay

We headed out of town last weekend for a mini vacay with the fam. Leaving right at dawn gave me an hour or two for some good reading material and a Coke Zero for Mr. Dunbar. IMG_1177 IMG_1184This is the scenery on the way to Vegas so I just kept on reading, while the voices in the back seat wanted to know, “How many more minutes? Are we there yet? and How much longer?” Because they were just too excited.

We stay at a really nice resort that is just off of The Strip. My kids think that Vegas is all about hotels, good food, and really big swimming pools. We pretty much stay at the resort the whole time. Swimming and playing and eating and then repeating. That was the agenda for the weekend.

By 7am the next morning, this is what they were doing. Just as planned.  IMG_1187IMG_1189IMG_1190IMG_1191IMG_1192IMG_1193IMG_1195

Gramma was out there leading the pack. They were following her around the pool like a bunch of baby ducks… for hours. IMG_1200IMG_1201IMG_1202

And of course by the end of the night… here is how we found all of the hooligans.IMG_1244

Mr. Dunbar took the kids down the next morning. Can you find him? How about the hooligans?IMG_1256IMG_1260IMG_1261IMG_1264IMG_1267IMG_1271IMG_1283IMG_1284

IMG_1327

Even the kids enjoyed some margaritas and pina coladas. Virgin, of course. IMG_1337IMG_1338

My Grandma, the kids Great-Grandma, came on the trip with us. I think we wore her out by 10am.

IMG_1349IMG_1362

We ended our trip with dessert and treats at the Rainforest Café. A must for my kids in Vegas.

Tired, Bogie?

IMG_1376IMG_1383

The guys got crazy and ordered Root Beer Floats. IMG_1385IMG_1386

And then dessert was delivered. VOLCANO.IMG_1387IMG_1389IMG_1388

Bye, bye Vegas.

We ended up leaving earlier than planned because the population in Vegas was off the hook this weekend. There was this big fight, a convention, a big concert and the EDC. Do you know what that is?  I didn’t-until we were there. It was a 3 day rave and let me tell you, those “kids” were everywhere. And my heart just broke for them. Mr. Dunbar told me they expected 345,000 people to attend. Almost a half million people! All of the ones that we saw just looked so lost. I just kept thinking, “They are all searching for belonging, for acceptance, for joy and they are so not going to find it there.”  I shouldn’t have been as surprised as I was, I mean come on, we were in Sin City, I was just overwhelmed seeing so many lost souls. Truly lost souls pouring into something that is only going to take them further from true Joy. So so scary.

Even as we drove up our street in the middle of the night there was so much peace about being in our little corner of Suburbia. I just thanked God that my three little men were in the car with me and not out there in that craziness.  Mr. Dunbar and I spent enough time “living it up” before we got married. We even spent a few weekends partying it up in Vegas. But this was madness like I never experienced. Again, so super crazy and sad.

But,  to end on a happier note…IMG_1333

The kids decided next year they’re going to Hawaii.

Start saving your pennies guys.
